Guest Speaker: Author & former Orlando Sentinel columnist, Joy Wallace Dickinson, Secrets of the Flamingo Cafe
From 2000 to 2023, Joy Wallace Dickinson wrote the weekly “Florida Flashback” feature in the Orlando Sentinel about aspects of Central Florida’s history. She’s also the author of three nonfiction books, including Orlando: City of Dreams (2003), and the novel Secrets of the Flamingo Café (2024), set in Orlando in the late 1940s, which received the Florida Historical Society’s Patrick D. Smith Award for 2025.
